Kiehl's Superby Efficient Anti-Perspirant and Deodorant Cream @ Kiehl's
I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I'm a bit of a product junkie. I love anything that looks and/or smells amazing, and I thought it would be fun to start doing product reviews, since many of the items I obsessively buy every month don't necessarily get the love they deserve online. I pondered diligently over which item to feature first, and after some deep thinking I decided, why not start with the most under-appreciated item in most women's bathroom cabinets - deodorant. I know, deodorant isn't exactly the type of beauty item that conjures up notions of pampering and luxury or even beauty for that matter, but finding the right deodorant can literally change your life. Highly involved quests to locate the holy grail of face creams, body lotions, and even cuticle oils are broadcasted in great detail over the farthest reaches of the interwebs, yet beauty enthusiasts as a whole seem to largely ignore caring for some of the most delicate skin on our bodies - the skin under our arms. As vital as pricey lingerie is to some women on the grounds of comfort, I find it hard to believe that the comfort of having smooth, silky armpits is not also an essential. Perhaps many women are simply reluctant to share their thoughts on the topic in such a public (and permanent) forum as the internet, as armpits are well, sort of an ugly thing to address. Emily of Into the Gloss posted a discussion to this end (see here) a while back, and while it is most definitely worth a read, there was no mention amongst the group of my personal longtime favorite for under-the-arm care. I gave a shout-out to my beloved Kiehl's in the comments section, but by now it has most likely been buried amongst the inevitable stream of posts proffering the benefits of all-natural (you have a point) and DIY (just don't, please) options. If you are unfamiliar with the Kiehl's brand in general, I suggest giving it a try, as even though the products are not necessarily geared toward those with sensitive skin, many of their personal care products (shower gel, shaving cream, etc.) work extremely well with my highly intolerant skin. Best of all, they are moderately priced and smell wonderful, which is a quality oft overlooked by brands that do tend to specialize in sensitive skin care. Of course, their deodorant is no exception - it does wonders to smooth my skin and smells amazing due to a combination of orange, lemon, and linseed extracts. It is the only deodorant I have found that doesn't sting my skin when applying right after shaving, and it actually softens underarm hair, so that shaving has become less irritating. The only negative thing that I can say about this product is that it does contain aluminum, but I have tried going chemical-free in the past, and through several months of bad hair, bad skin, and ummm, stinky pits, I discovered that I NEED the chemicals. This deodorant also comes in a tube and is a cream formula, which took a little getting used to, but now I much prefer it to traditional stick deodorant because there is no flaking and the consistency is so much more pleasing on the skin. Kiehl's Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant and Deodorant comes in two sizes (1.7 oz and 2.5 oz) , and the larger of the two lasts me between 2 and 3 months with daily application. I have been using it for several years now, and I can truly say it has changed my life, much more so than my extensive Cosabella Talco collection or even my custom tri-mix moisturizer combo from La Mer (I'll get to that one later). Sometimes it really is the little things that make all the difference.
LOL, tell them that Alicia sent you. hahahaha
