One-Track Mind

I seriously have a one-track mind. Literally everything I hear/see leads my thoughts directly to fashion. Sometimes, the connection is instant, say between a painting and a certain favorite collection, but sometimes it takes a little longer to get there. For instance, today I had an MRI (no worries, just a very thorough check-up), which BTW was super-fun, and the entire time I was in there all I could think of was the film 2001: A Space Odyssey (although for a bit I was also making songs to the sweet MRI beats and perhaps thinking how it would be possible to get some sort of similar noiseless version to sleep in at home), but more specifically, how awesome Reed Krakoff's Pre-Fall 2011 collection would look paired with the set of the film.

And while I'm on the subject of 2001... I haven't mentioned this much on the blog so far, but interior design is another close love of mine. The furniture in this film is particularly spectacular and features some serious mid-century classics, like the famous hot pink Djinn chair by Olivier Mourgue and several pieces from the George Nelson Action Office collection (used in both the business meeting scene showed above and in the image with the receptionist below). Here are just a few more screen caps showcasing the spectacular design of this film:

  1. It's been years since I watched this movie! I never realized what a treasure trove of mid-century modern the set decoration was! Looking at these still shots makes me ponder whether I like what people THOUGHT the future would look like, or what the future actually LOOKS like, better?!? Great post!
